2018: EEA Mobilities – Universitatea Lucian Blaga din Sibiu

Project Promoter: Universitatea Lucian Blaga din Sibiu

Project Code: 18-MOB-0062

Partners: Volda University College – University College of Southeast Norway – MF Norwegian School of Theology – University of Liechtenstein

Given that the modern economy needs graduates with international awareness, intercultural skills and a deep understanding of interdependence, the proposed mobility project has come to encourage and support it.

The Internationalization Strategy of the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu was developed to support the following directions: curriculum improvement, research, learning and teaching activities, institutional development, as well as the mobility of students and academic staff. Therefore, LBUS aimed to increase the number of teacher and student mobility in all three cycles, for study and placement mobility.

The mobility project aimed to develop mobility with universities in Norway and Liechtenstein, well known as educational poles, with sufficient funding for expensive countries such as the Nordic countries, which would not otherwise be possible.

At the same time, ULBS has strived to ensure at-home internationalization for students who do not participate in mobility projects, by creating an international environment through teachers, academic staff and students. By doing so, students who did not participate in the mobilities gained more experience in terms of internationalization, developed and improved their skills, increasing their chances of employment.

The objective of the project implemented at ULBS was to create sustainable networks and increase the capacity for international cooperation between EEA universities, through academic mobility, improving transparency and recognition of studies, but also by improving staff skills and qualifications.

The main objectives of the mobility project were:

  • enable students to benefit educationally, linguistically and culturally from the experience of EEA mobility in donor countries;
  • promoting cooperation between institutions and enriching the educational environment of host institutions;
  • to contribute to the development of a group of well-qualified, open-minded and internationally experienced young people as future professionals.

For a good implementation of the project the following activities were undertaken:

  • promoting and disseminating the mobility opportunities offered by the project,
  • organization of selection procedures for SMS / SMP / STA / STT
  • nomination of beneficiaries at partner universities of donor states
  • organizing, in cooperation with the NO partners, the mobilities of the beneficiaries
  • organizing Info-sessions for beneficiaries
